IndigoVision’s integrated IP Video surveillance solution ensures safety and security at mining operation on the Island of Guadeloupe12 August 2011 A mine on the French island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean is operated by Sablières de Guadeloupe and uses a surface mining process to extract up to 2m tonnes of sand, gravel and other aggregates for the construction industry per year. The complex is located on two main sites, situated over 80km apart - the actual mining area on the coast and a distribution centre in the middle of the island. Surveillance cameras from both areas are remotely monitored from an office located on a third site.

IndigoVision’s integrated IP Video surveillance solution is being used to ensure the safety, security and smooth operation of the remote mining complex. Commenting on the success of the project, M. Pravaz, Director at Sablières de Guadeloupe, said “The operation of the mine has been transformed since we installed the IndigoVision system. Using a laptop I …

A Closer Look at Apple's Planned Spaceship-like Headquarters

A Closer Look at Apple's Planned Spaceship-like HeadquartersBy Christina DesMaraisPCWorld    Aug 14, 2011 5:30 AM Apple watchers are getting a closer look at the company’s plans for a new spaceship-like headquarters. The city of Cupertino, Calif., has released new images of what the complex will look like. The 2.8 million-square-foot four-story circular structure will resemble a spaceship more than a building with huge walls of glass that let workers look out from both sides of the ring onto park-like landscaping. Dubbed Apple Campus 2, the headquarters will accommodate up to 13,000 employees and contain a 1,000-seat auditorium, 300,000 square feet of research facilities and underground parking. By moving vehicles underground, 80 percent of the 150-acre property will be landscaped with 6,000 trees under the direction of a Stanford arborist who will help restore some of the indigenous plant life to the property, including apricot orchards. Apple also plans to build its own “energy ce…

liverpool the start

Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson are set to make their Liverpool debuts in the Barclays Premier League season opener against Sunderland. For our new boy Henderson it is a dream opening fixture against his former club. Kenny Dalglish's side will be hoping to get off to a winning start in 2011-12 after a morale boosting 2-0 win over Valencia at Anfield at the weekend. However, it promises to be a tough test against Steve Bruce's new-look Sunderland. The Black Cats have reinforced their squad during the summer on the likes of Connor Wickham, Sebastian Larsson, John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Craig Gardner. Last season at Anfield the two sides drew 2-2, but Dalglish's Reds were brilliant at the Stadium of Light with Luis Suarez netting a fantastic goal. Sunderland fought out a goalless draw with Hibs in their last pre-season outing before the big kick-off, so it's all to play for as the 2011-12 season is about to get underway.

lion os application problem

After I installed Lion, I had duplicate applications in Launchpad.  I tried reinstalling Lion and they remained.  Another troubleshooting techniques was depressing control + option+ command and that yielded no results.

How do I get rid of the duplicate applications?

Well this what I did.

This is a known bug in Lion. The Launchpad database does not update properly. More info can be had athttp://haiteq.com/2011/07/07/quick-tip-force-os-x-lion-to-reload-the-launchpads- contents/
To force the LaunchPad to refresh its database, run the following command in Terminal: sudo rm ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock/*.db You'll be prompted not to mess with sudo commands, and then asked for your admin password. This will delete the database that is used to populate the LaunchPad.
To apply the change and make the LaunchPad create a new database, run this command:

Stewart Downing would prefer to join Liverpool,

Image
Sky Sports sources understand Stewart Downing would prefer to join Liverpool, despite interest from Arsenal, and the deal could be finalised on Monday. The Aston Villa winger was the subject of a £15million bid from Liverpool on Wednesday, but the offer was immediately rejected by Villa Park owner Randy Lerner. Arsene Wenger's Arsenal, who could lose Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas this summer, are thought to have attempted to hijack their Premier League rivals with an £18million bid. But England winger Downing has set his mind on a move to Anfield and Liverpool are negotiating a price to buy a player who has two years remaining on his current contract. Having already lost Ashley Young to Manchester United, new Villa manager Alex McLeish hopes the former Middlesbrough star will stay and the club are under no pressure to sell. The fact Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli and manager Kenny Dalglish have travelled to the Far East for a pre-season tour was also thought to indicate …

Extending burglar alarm effectiveness with video surveillance

Image
By Mark Wilson Mark S. Wilson, vice-president of marketing at Infinova, says that any user whohas both an alarm system and a video system should really integrate them. Find out why. Security integrators can help their customers extend the effectiveness of their users’ burglar alarms by integrating them with their surveillance systems. Many customers want to have video integrated with their burglar alarm system so that, if a door opens when it should be closed, motion detectors register the event and prompt the video system to capture images near that door. An alarm is sent to the on-site security team, directing them to view the cameras covering that area to investigate what's going on. With such an integration, surveillance cameras record intrusions based on forced entries or detected motion.

Alarm notifications can be handled directly by the people manning the monitoring station as they can visually see the intruder, reducing false alarms and increasing authority respo…

Everton will introduce pricing structure

Everton will introduce a new competitive pricing structure for Barclays Premier League matches next season – including money off standard prices for at least two fixtures. Following on from the season ticket price freeze announced for 2011/12 earlier this year, Blues officials have revealed that a new grading system will be introduced for all league games at Goodison Park. There will be five categories of game  - grade A-E - with the prices reflecting the scale and the timing of the fixture. The grade A game will carry the highest premium whilst the Club has introduced Grade E games that will be cheaper than the standard 2011/12 prices.   Grade D is the standard matchday price for next season and covers 50 per cent of fixtures. Alongside the new grading system junior prices remain half the price of adult fixtures for all games and in all areas of the stadium. Chief Executive Robert Elstone said: “The changes we have opted to make for next season have come about following research we conduc…
